The Task Force launched the Legacy Awards Program in 1999, to recognize individuals and organizations that perform exemplary work in the areas of spill prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Exemplary projects are defined as successful efforts that go beyond regulatory requirements to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from oil spills.  A total of 87 Legacy Awards have been presented in past years to a diverse group of entities and individuals. A complete list of previous recipients is available here.

In 2023, the Task Force is pleased to honor very deserving four awardees:

• Liz Wainwright, Merchant’s Exchange

• Kevin Gardner, Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC)

• Tim Robertson, Nuka Research

• Catherine Berg, NOAA Office of Response and Restoration

The 2023 Legacy Awards were presented at the Annual Meeting on November 16, 2023 in Sacramento, California.
